The Brief
Sea views a bonus!
To find a second home around the Isle of Purbeck for a busy London family who wanted to buy a house in a peaceful location surrounded by its own land. They indicated that sea views would be a bonus but not essential and they would be happy to improve the property.
How we helped
Meeting the brief could have been a challenge...
A great deal of the local countryside has been owned for centuries by Estates and it was definitely going to be a challenge to meet the brief across what is a relatively small area of Dorset. I set to work selecting a range of rural houses for the family to view, including some which were ‘off market’. The early viewings were largely exploratory and with children in tow often involved a trip to the beach.
It soon became apparent that a rural house was less appealing and that a village location was preferred. The first house we offered on had a lot of development potential, but after some investigation there were some issues which were not straight forward and could potentially be costly.
Another house was quickly identified and after some negotiation we agreed a purchase. Having put together a team of local consultants to deal with the legal matters and survey, this resulted in a very positive conclusion for my client, and within a swifter timescale than anticipated at the outset.
