Bath offers its residents a unique blend of historical architecture, cultural charm, vibrant city life, and stunning natural surroundings, making it one of the most desirable cities to live in within the UK.
Bath has a fascinating history that dates back to the first century AD, when the Romans founded it as Aquae Sulis. The Romans were drawn to Bath for its hot springs, around which they built the famous Baths that can still be visited today. When the Romans retreated from the shores of the UK, Bath suffered and declined in stature until medieval times, when it once again became a bustling town and later a center for the wool trade. The Georgian era then saw Bath embraced as a spa town, becoming a playground for the nobility and wealthy. From its seven crescents to the assembly rooms, the Georgian architecture is what truly defines Bath as one of the most architecturally interesting cities in the world.
Bath now seamlessly combines the elegance of its past with the convenience of modern living. It offers fantastic shopping along streets like Milsom Place and SouthGate, and fine dining in the city’s best eateries, such as The Elder, Robun, and La Perla. Excellent schooling is another arrow in Bath’s quiver. With big names such as King Edward’s School (KES), Kingswood, and Prior Park; there is a school to fit every child’s needs. The city’s compact size makes it easy to explore on foot and Bath’s green spaces, such as Royal Victoria Park, offer the outdoor lifestyle that is prized by so many. Finally, for any rugby fans, one can also spend a very sociable evening enjoying the rugby at The Rec one of the most popular rugby grounds in the South West.

I'm not usually a city person but Bath capture my heart when I first visited it ago, 20 years ago, even though I did admittedly leave with parking ticket, fortunately its not a prerequisite for visiting as I now have my office there. I think its the warming Bath stone, the history and the people that make the city feel so welcoming which I find highly appealing. If I had to live in a city now there would only be one contender for me and that would be Bath.
