Buying Agent and Property Search in Wiltshire

A Buying Agents guide to buying a house in Wiltshire.  Wiltshire offers a unique combination of scenic beauty and historical richness while remaining well-connected to London, making it an ideal location for your new home. The county’s countryside is truly wonderful, featuring rolling hills, expansive plains, and charming villages. Wiltshire is also one of the most historic areas in the UK, home to iconic sites like Stonehenge and Avebury, and boasting no less than eight White Horses.

Wiltshire is the 20th largest county in the UK and is home to some of the most picturesque towns and villages in the south of England, such as Castle Combe, Lacock, Bradford-on-Avon, and Marlborough. The urban and rural areas offer a wealth of historical (the 4th highest number of listed houses) and modern architectural styles. Wiltshire has a wide range of building styles; the north of Wiltshire inherits the typical Cotswolds stone look, while in the east, you will find more brick and brick-and-flint houses. The south is made up mainly of houses constructed from Tisbury and Chilmark stones, while the west is predominantly Bath Stone.

The county has a wide range of hotspots, including Marlborough, Tisbury, the Donheads, the Chalke Valley, and the Deverills, where property prices are typically highest. Areas like Pewsey, Malmesbury, and those around Bradford-on-Avon offer better value.

As buying agents in Wiltshire, we have seen the best and know the worst the county can offer. Having us on your side during your property search will put you a step ahead of the competition in terms of knowledge and advice.

Wiltshire Highlights

Excellent private schools – like Pinewood, St Francis, Marlborough Collage and Dauntsey’s Prep.

Well connected – With the M4 to the North and the A303 to the South the county has some excellent road links. Trains are also easily accessible from stations such as Bedwyn (one hour six minutes), Chippenham (one hour fifteen minutes), Swindon (one hour), Pewsey (55 minutes) and Westbury (one hour 23 minutes).

Varied and beautiful countryside.

Public Houses – Wiltshire has some great pubs scattered across the county.  Some of the more notable ones are Crown and Anchor in Ham, The Beckford Arms in Fonthill Fonthill Gifford and the Bradley Hare in Maiden Bradley.

For the first 21 years of my life, I grew up on the Berkshire/Wiltshire border. I have returned because it boasts excellent schools, making it an ideal place to raise my young family. Wiltshire is one of the most historic counties in the UK, offering varied and interesting landscapes that range from rolling hills to ancient woodlands. It remains well-connected to the hustle and bustle of London while being very social in its own right.
